Behind the alias "Tip Toe" there is Wren. She never met her father. Her mother met him while she was assignment as an ornithologist in Hawaii. Her father was a Hawaiian native, deaf from birth. Wren’s mother and father communicated through ASL, and fell in love. After a falling out her mother went back to the states and found out she was pregnant. She gave birth and named Wren after the songbird.

Wren was born completely deaf but received cochlear implants and learned ASL. She fell in love with ballet, and grew graceful and quiet, so much so her mother nicknamed her "Tip Toe." 

She struggles with anxiety, but is deeply supported by her mother. The two are inseparable, until one tragic day. 

Wren and her mother were out for a drive as Wren practiced for her driving exam, when another car slammed into them. Wren lost control and they hit an electrical pole.

Wren’s mother died on impact, and while trying to reach her mom Wren was electrocuted by a live cut power line. The electric shock affected her cochlear implants and gave her  powers.

Suddenly she can hear on unheard of and extreme levels. She gains the power of superhearing, control over sound waves, lie detection by hearing people's heartbeat, making people temporarily deaf while around them, and even true to her name making her footsteps and movements completely silent. 

But these powers are no blessing in her ears. She is constantly overstimulated and experiencing sensory overload, due to powers that remind her of the worst day of her life. 

Wren feels extreme guilt over the incident. She shuts people out and closes in on herself, constantly trying to be as small as possible. She despises the powers she can't control and tries to hold onto her mom anyway she can. Wren is always seen in her "songbird" hoodie and tattered ballet shoes, both being last gifts from her mother. 

Battling her demons and trying to hide quietly in her loud deafening world, she eventually discovers the incident may not have been an accident. This "accident" may have also involved her mysterious father. 

Using her powers to figure out what really happened, she eventually begins using the alias “Tip Toe” to honor of her mother.
